Offshore Software Development: A Comparative Analysis
Offshore software development is one of the key strategies that most IT ventures are capitalizing upon. But it does not necessarily ensure quality and success of the project. Cases wherein the client is utterly dissatisfied with the offshored project are few, yet not nil.

In order to avoid being handed a project that does not commit to your quality standards:
- Get the sample codes checked by experts, analyze the coding standards, and investigate the bug tracking systems employed by the service providers.
- Have your onsite executive who monitors the progress and keeps a tab on the scheduled time lines.
- Check the company profile, its success stories and the references given.
- Agree upon certain fixed standards of communication which are easy to follow by both the parties. Make sure that the service provider's employees are well-versed with English.
- Document the penalty in case the OSP fails to meet the deadlines. You can also work out some incentives as well in case of on time completion of a project.
Finally, if anything goes wrong in your professional relation with the Offshore Service Provider, you should have well laid out and transparent contract to avoid any ambiguity.
