Increasing Job Satisfaction - The Family Feeling

Increasing job satisfaction: The 'family' feeling
In today's world, job satisfaction is held synonymous with customer satisfaction, as it is believed that happier the service personnel, better the service provided. Human Resource professionals thus, strive to develop new methods to keep their employees happy. One such method is to host regular office parties or mixers, plan outstation tours and picnics, and other team games and activities. Most organizations look to reflect the company's values and overall interest in employees' welfare. They strive to make the employees feel appreciated, increase co-operation and communication among team members. The aim is to create a "family" feeling. The ability for workers to view each other as a team of friends and acquaintances rather than just a team of workplace associates. The ulterior motive is to boost the overall morale of the employee, about their work and organization and ultimately, increase their productivity.

Creating a family at work: Boost employee morale through- Office parties include celebrating seasonal holidays and secular occasions designated as special in the company. Small organizations stick to tried and tested (and cheaper) options like catering lunches or dinners in conference rooms or taking employees out to a popular restaurant. Companies that can afford it indulge in lavish parties held in hotels serving a sumptuous buffet and followed by cocktails with live entertainment. For new employees, these events can serve as sort of an ice breaker. They usually create something common for them to discuss back at the workplace.
